Clarity isn’t pandering. Telling a story in a manner that anybody can understand it and enjoy it is simply exercising good craft.
You draw an arbitrary line between “us” and “them”, when you’re all on the same side and standing in the same place.
If not getting bogged down with the events of a other hundred stories is “pandering,” I wish Marvel would pander more often!
